The Problem
A lot of people come in saying something like:
“My hamstrings feel super tight every time I try to stretch.”
It might show up when touching your toes, working out, or even just walking. Sometimes it feels like a constant pull. Other times it’s more of a stiffness that won’t go away.
Tight hamstrings are extremely common.
Why It Happens
Usually, a few things are going on:
• You sit for long periods
• The hips don’t move well
• The hamstrings stay in a shortened position
When the hips don’t move well, the hamstrings take on more load than they should.
Over time, that creates constant tension.
Quick Tip
Try this:
Instead of just stretching, do slow hip hinges.
Keep your back flat and move from your hips.
Think “lengthen, don’t force.”
When Massage Helps
Massage can help reduce hamstring tone and improve blood flow.
When the muscles relax, stretching actually starts to work.
If your hamstrings always feel tight, it may be worth getting it checked out.
